I want a Shiloh for sure! Now what?

• Please fill out our puppy application.  While we won’t send updates until a litter is on the ground, feel free to reach out with any questions in the meantime.

 

Do I get to pick out my puppy?

• While we will make considerations for sex/color/age, Element Shilohs will make final placement decisions. In your application we encourage you to be upfront on if you’d like a conformation, sport, or pet prospect, as well as honesty about your lifestyle.  At seven weeks old a litter evaluation by another breeder(s) will take place, at which time we will get third party feedback and confirm temperaments and conformation in order to help match puppies to their best fit.

Why are Shilohs not AKC?

• Right now breeders have a lot of control over which puppies are able to be registered and bred, which means they have a lot of control over the future of the breed, the health of dogs produced, etc.  No registry is currently seeking recognition from the AKC, as it could have negative effects on the long-term well being of the Shiloh as a breed.

 

Can Shilohs still do sports?

• Yes! Altered Shilohs can compete in almost any venue as other dogs, including AKC.  Intact dogs are doing a wonderful job showing up for IABCA, ICKC and club specialty conformation shows, WCRL Rally, NASDA scentwork, Barnhunt, and so much more!
